Sick Children
A first aid room is provided in a room adjacent to the office. If a child is sent to the first aid room he/she will be supervised and parents will be notified as soon as possible, so that the child can be collected. Parents will be notified if a child spends regular time in the first aid room. A child should be kept at home if unwell to avoid passing on the condition to others - see Reducing the Spread of Infections.
First Aid
Members of the staff carry a Senior First Aid Certificate. A first aid kit is provided in the first aid room for school accidents and other portable kits are provided for sporting activities and excursions.
Medication
If medication is required to be administered during school time, a Medication to Student - Medication Request - Form - App 3 must be completed by parents and lodged at the school office.
All medication must be in its original packaging with the chemist label attached. Over the counter medication can not be administered unless accompanied by a doctor’s letter authorising the medication, the dosage and frequency of use.
Reducing the Spread of Infections
Infections with or without illness, are common in children. When children attend school they are exposed to a large number of children, increasing the opportunity for the spread of infectious diseases. It is not possible to prevent the spread of all infections and illnesses within schools, however a lot of illnesses from infectious disease can be prevented.
